Sleeping Beauty AU

It was one of the more interesting things that had happened to SG-1 in well...in a very long time. If ever.

It all started when the team had gone to a planet that had looked straight out of Munckinland from the Wizard of Oz. Jack had been unable to help cracking little people with lollipops jokes and Teal'c had gotten the duty of explaining to Jonas why it was supposed to be funny until Daniel finally put a stop to it by offering to show Jonas the movie when they returned to Earth. It was a simple enough mission really, just making friends with the locals. The villagers, who were not munchkins, wer very welcoming and had even allowed SG-1 to participate in one of their festivals held in the Forest of Rainbow Trees. After spending a night on the planet, SG-1 had returned to Earth and undergone the usual physicals and de-briefings before each going to their respective quarters to get a good night's sleep.

It was the next morning when things turned strange. Upon waking, Jack had found himself turned into a hairy, ugly beast. Dr. Lam had done all the testing she could think of but could not figure out how this transformation could have happened. She wanted to run more tests but Jack ran out after a frantic call came in to the SGC from Sam.

Sam had woken up to find that her house was now a tower and her hair had grown to a ridiculous length overnight. She tried to get out but found that there was no door out of her room and there was some sort of force field on the window that prevented her escape that way, not to mention there was really no way down. When Jack arrived, still hairy and ugly, he convinced her to throw down her hair so he could climb up. Once he was up, Sam had started off on a ramble about how this could be happening, what may have happened on the planet to cause it and how they could reverse it when it was Jack's quick thinking, and not his urge to shut her up with a kiss, that solved it. After the quick kiss, Jack, Sam and Sam's house all returned to normal.

And just in time for another frantic call, this time from the SGC. Teal'c had woken up, having been turned into a dragon like creature from Jaffa folk lore. On the way back, Jack and Sam drove by Daniel's house to check on him and spotted the beanstalk in the backyard, with no sign of Daniel. As they approached the beanstalk, it suddenly grew thorn and so they realized he'd have to solve this on his own.

When they returned to the SGC, they went immediately to Daniel's lab and looked for anything that had to do with Jaffa folk lore, as it only made sense due to their own experiences living out Rapunzel and Beauty and the Beast, with Daniel off on his Jack and the Beanstalk adventure. After some searching, and helping wrangle the Teal'c dragon into the gate room, they found the story. There was a story in Jaffa myth that dishonorable warriors were doomed to turn into dragons unless they could find a virgin to forgive them of their dishonor. That caused one of the most embarrassing PA announcements Jack had ever had to make but finally they had a few candidates, male and female. When none of them worked, Sam theorized that perhaps it had to be a Jaffa virgin to satisfy the story and arrangements were made to send a team to Chu'lac to retrieve them.

It was while they were waiting for the team to return that both Sam and Jack realized that they hadn't seen any sign of Jonas all day. They quickly ran from the control room to his quarters, hoping he was alright. They banged on his door and when they didn't get an answer, Jack used his authority to get the door opened. And there was Jonas, laid out on a beautiful alter adorned with flowers and dressed like a fairy tale prince. And dead asleep as apparently, the story of Sleeping Beauty had traveled to Langara with it's people from Earth. Dr. Lam examined him and proclaimed him perfectly fine, just asleep. What came as a pleasant surprise was the number of volunteers, of both genders, who were willing to kiss Jonas in an attempt to wake him, including all of the members of SG-1 once Daniel had returned with a large golden bird and Teal'c had been turned back to normal.

But nothing worked, not even going back to the planet in search for a solution. Jonas slept on and the others began to wonder if he'd ever wake up.

It took Cassie a while to get anyone to admit what, exactly, was going on with the line outside of Jonas' room. They wouldn't say and they wouldn't say and finally Cassie had to con one of the airmen in order to get the story. Jonas was playing Sleeping Beauty because of something that had gone wrong at the base. Something going wrong didn't surprise her, although the fairty tale bent was definitely not something that she had heard about before. What did surprise her was the hour after hour that it took when things weren't going right.

Sam was fine and Jack and Teal'c and even Daniel. But Jonas would not wake up, no matter how many people kissed him. As the line got shorter and shorter, they got even more desperate and finally people started coming in who Cassie knew were gay but not saying anything. It was that desperate.

Finally, the line ran out and everyone went back to try to find another solution. There was still one person left to try to kiss Jonas. Cassie. She didn't really know him more than to say hi, but she definitely didn't want to see him stuck like that for long. She headed inside, shut and locked the door behind her and walked over to his bed. After hesitating for a minute, she leaned over and kissed him. She didn't really expect anything to happen, but she had to try, right?

Perhaps it was the 'magic' of the whole thing but Jonas' sleep was dreamless and restful, despite it's length. It was a very pleasant feeling and he was a bit reluctant to leave it when his brain realized what was happening.

Especially since the next emotion he felt after the complete relaxation was confusion. Was someone kissing him? He was still a bit too groggy to move but he managed to open his eyes slowly and was even more confused by the sight of red hair.

He moaned slightly and shifted his head as feeling came back, and it was then that he recognized Cassie Frasier. He'd met her, of course, but he'd never had a real conversation with her. Really, what was going on?

Cassie blinked when she felt him move underneath him and she pulled back, smiling when she looked down and saw his eyes blinking open. "Good morning, sleepyhead," she murmured, brushing back a stray bit of hair. Everyone would be thrilled that he was awake. Of course, she'd have to let them know how he was awake and they might not be too keen on that. Maybe best to give it a few minutes before letting them all know what was going on.

Jonas blinked, then swallow a few times before he could make himself ask, "What happened?" Thankfully, the flowers and weird clothes had disappeared the moment he started to wake up or he really would have been confused. "What are you doing here?" He asked, more curious then upset.

"I'm...not entirely sure how to explain it. There was something going on at the Base. Well, really, something that was going on to people from the Base, because Daniel had it happen to him back at his place. But...do you know fairy tales?" Cassie frowned and bit her lip, reaizing that he might not.

Slowly, Jonas sat up, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, folklore that often includes magical elements. What does that have anything to do with why you're in my room kissing me awake?" He was very perplexed and it showed in his voice.

"Because you were Sleeping Beauty," she murmured. "Everyone's been living fairy tales. Everyone's gotten over them, but you...you wouldn't wake up."

"Sleeping Beauty. The story of the princess who is cursed to sleep until awakened by her true love." Jonas said automatically, in the way he often did when thinking through something in his fast paced brain. "Wait, all of SG-1 has been reliving fairy tales? How did they guess you would break mine?"

Okay, when you put it that way, it sounded a lot more...intimate. Cassie just lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "They didn't. They've had, uh, people parading in and out of here all day. I'm not sure any of them know I was even in the base, let alone that I'm in here. I just...I thought I'd try my luck."

Jonas couldn't help blinking at the implication. "Everyone on the base kissed me? Really?" Well, it was nice to know that the people of the SGC would help him in a crisis...especially one as odd as this one. Speaking of odd, "Well, I don't know what your doing here or what possessed you to help," Jonas gave her a small bashful smile, "but thanks."

"Well, I'm sure that some people didn't. I'm not sure I want to know if Daniel or Jack did. But most tried to help out." She smiled at him. He really was kind of cute and so adorably naive that she couldn't help herself liking him. She leaned in to kiss his cheek. "You're welcome."

At the mention of Jack and Daniel, Jonas couldn't help making a small face. He honestly didn't think either of them would kiss him, even for this. "It's still a nice thing to hear."

The kiss to his cheek made him blush. The first kiss was nice to hear about but the actual one he was awake for was just as nice. "So...what are you doing here? On base I mean."

"I was getting a checkup. Or at least I was supposed to get a checkup. It seems the doctors on base have been a little too busy to see me yet. They're supposed to call when they've got some spare time, but so far nothing." He was blushing. That was, frankly, adorable.

"I guess they would have been a little busy, with all the excitement going on. I'm almost sad I missed it." The only thing was still boggling him and he'd have to confirm things with Teal'C, just for his own state of mind. "And I guess you can't go to a regular doctor huh?" He gave her a sympathetic smile, since he knew the drill himself.

"Not really. They might find some residue of naquadah in my blood or around my heart. Better to have me seen here unless there's no other choice." She smiled at him and reached out to brush his hair back. "How are you feeling?"

"Yeah, they've been very careful about who gets samples of my blood ever since Nirrti revealed that there was a significant difference between my DNA and earth humans. Though apparently there is a whole new department at Area 51 to study those differences now." Jonas hadn't know what to think about that when Sam had told him, but he found that if it helped people, he didn't really care.

The brushing back of his hair was unexpected and he watched her curiously. "I'm feeling fine. Better then fine actually. I don't think I've slept that well...ever. Maybe it's in the way I woke up."

"Yeah, but they're only using your blood. They're not using you as a lab rat." There was a key difference there and one that Cassie appreciated. They might want to study the differences between Jonas and them, but they weren't going to subject him to millions of tests to do it. Or at least there were key people here who wouldn't let him be used like that.

She ducked her head and smiled under his watchful eye.

"General Hammond would eat alive anyone who tried." Jonas said, only half joking. The general was one of the few people Jonas knew without a doubt was a friend and had even become almost a father figure to the young alien. And since he still felt rather isolated sometimes, he cherished the few close bonds he knew he had.

When she ducked her head, Jonas flushed bashfully in reply, smiling while biting his lower lip. "Sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass you."

Cassie chuckled. "He would. He really would. It would almost be fun to see." Her ears went pink when he apologized. "It's all right. I should probably get going. Let them know that you're all right." She leaned down and kissed him on the cheek.

Jonas paused, before pulling her back to kiss her lightly, before turning pink himself. "Thanks...again. I guess I should come with you. I'm sure I'm going to be in the clinic for the next little while anyway, just to be sure."

He took a minute to stretch and stand up, before turning back to her. "We don't have to tell them. If you don't want." She didn't seem upset but he figured the right thing to do would be to give her an out.

Cassie's fingers went to her lips. She was surprised that he had kissed her. It meant that when she looked at him again, her eyes kept drifting down to his lips. "What will you tell them? It's not as if you can exactly kiss yourself awake." She moved a little closer to him without realizing she was doing it.5

"I'll tell them I just woke up. Whatever it was wore off." Jonas was a horrible liar and he knew it, but he'd do it for her. He didn't want her to get in trouble and if she wanted an out of this situation, he wanted her to have it. It felt like the right thing to do.

"They're not going to believe that." She smiled at him and shook her head. "No, you might as well tell them. You could probably leave out the part about you kissing me back, though. Her gaze dropped down to his lips again. "Or this."

She leaned in and kissed him again.

Jonas blinked in surprise, despite everything that had just happened. But that didn't stop his arms from going around her waist or him returning the kiss.

Cassie had meant it - or at least thought she had meant it - as just a simple kiss until his arms went around her. That was her excuse for leaning into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck.
