Sleeping Beauty AU

It was one of the more interesting things that had happened to SG-1 in well...in a very long time. If ever.

It all started when the team had gone to a planet that had looked straight out of Munckinland from the Wizard of Oz. Jack had been unable to help cracking little people with lollipops jokes and Teal'c had gotten the duty of explaining to Jonas why it was supposed to be funny until Daniel finally put a stop to it by offering to show Jonas the movie when they returned to Earth. It was a simple enough mission really, just making friends with the locals. The villagers, who were not munchkins, wer very welcoming and had even allowed SG-1 to participate in one of their festivals held in the Forest of Rainbow Trees. After spending a night on the planet, SG-1 had returned to Earth and undergone the usual physicals and de-briefings before each going to their respective quarters to get a good night's sleep.

It was the next morning when things turned strange. Upon waking, Jack had found himself turned into a hairy, ugly beast. Dr. Lam had done all the testing she could think of but could not figure out how this transformation could have happened. She wanted to run more tests but Jack ran out after a frantic call came in to the SGC from Sam.

Sam had woken up to find that her house was now a tower and her hair had grown to a ridiculous length overnight. She tried to get out but found that there was no door out of her room and there was some sort of force field on the window that prevented her escape that way, not to mention there was really no way down. When Jack arrived, still hairy and ugly, he convinced her to throw down her hair so he could climb up. Once he was up, Sam had started off on a ramble about how this could be happening, what may have happened on the planet to cause it and how they could reverse it when it was Jack's quick thinking, and not his urge to shut her up with a kiss, that solved it. After the quick kiss, Jack, Sam and Sam's house all returned to normal.

And just in time for another frantic call, this time from the SGC. Teal'c had woken up, having been turned into a dragon like creature from Jaffa folk lore. On the way back, Jack and Sam drove by Daniel's house to check on him and spotted the beanstalk in the backyard, with no sign of Daniel. As they approached the beanstalk, it suddenly grew thorn and so they realized he'd have to solve this on his own.

When they returned to the SGC, they went immediately to Daniel's lab and looked for anything that had to do with Jaffa folk lore, as it only made sense due to their own experiences living out Rapunzel and Beauty and the Beast, with Daniel off on his Jack and the Beanstalk adventure. After some searching, and helping wrangle the Teal'c dragon into the gate room, they found the story. There was a story in Jaffa myth that dishonorable warriors were doomed to turn into dragons unless they could find a virgin to forgive them of their dishonor. That caused one of the most embarrassing PA announcements Jack had ever had to make but finally they had a few candidates, male and female. When none of them worked, Sam theorized that perhaps it had to be a Jaffa virgin to satisfy the story and arrangements were made to send a team to Chu'lac to retrieve them.

It was while they were waiting for the team to return that both Sam and Jack realized that they hadn't seen any sign of Jonas all day. They quickly ran from the control room to his quarters, hoping he was alright. They banged on his door and when they didn't get an answer, Jack used his authority to get the door opened. And there was Jonas, laid out on a beautiful alter adorned with flowers and dressed like a fairy tale prince. And dead asleep as apparently, the story of Sleeping Beauty had traveled to Langara with it's people from Earth. Dr. Lam examined him and proclaimed him perfectly fine, just asleep. What came as a pleasant surprise was the number of volunteers, of both genders, who were willing to kiss Jonas in an attempt to wake him, including all of the members of SG-1 once Daniel had returned with a large golden bird and Teal'c had been turned back to normal.

But nothing worked, not even going back to the planet in search for a solution. Jonas slept on and the others began to wonder if he'd ever wake up.

Cassie's fingers went to her lips. She was surprised that he had kissed her. It meant that when she looked at him again, her eyes kept drifting down to his lips. "What will you tell them? It's not as if you can exactly kiss yourself awake." She moved a little closer to him without realizing she was doing it.5

"I'll tell them I just woke up. Whatever it was wore off." Jonas was a horrible liar and he knew it, but he'd do it for her. He didn't want her to get in trouble and if she wanted an out of this situation, he wanted her to have it. It felt like the right thing to do.

"They're not going to believe that." She smiled at him and shook her head. "No, you might as well tell them. You could probably leave out the part about you kissing me back, though. Her gaze dropped down to his lips again. "Or this."

She leaned in and kissed him again.

Jonas blinked in surprise, despite everything that had just happened. But that didn't stop his arms from going around her waist or him returning the kiss.

Cassie had meant it - or at least thought she had meant it - as just a simple kiss until his arms went around her. That was her excuse for leaning into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck.

The arms around his neck were promising and Jonas hoped his door was locked because if the Colonel or the Major saw him like this with Cassie...he was as good as dead.

He pulled away minutes later for breath and smiled down at her. "Wow..."

Cassie sucked in a much-needed breath and licked her lips. "That was...I think 'wow' about sums it up." And the problem was that she wanted to do it again.

"Does that mean I can do it again?" Jonas asked with a quirky smile, since she didn't seem to want the out he'd given her.

"We should probably tell them you're awake," Cassie said, though her words were slow and hesitant and she was already leaning in so that he could kiss her again.

"Your probably ri-..." Jonas had been about to close the distance as he spoke and kiss her again, when someone began pounding on the door. So instead of kissing Cassie, Jonas just groaned. "I don't think we have a choice now."

Cassie dropped her head and sighed. She bit her tongue against the first urge she had to tell whoever it was to just go away and come back later. "Do you want to get it," she murmured, "or should I?"

"I will. I..." Jonas stopped himself, wanting to say something to Cassie but he couldn't find the right words. "Last chance. Did I wake up or did I have help?" The pounding came again and he took precious second to kiss her quickly one more time, a hand cupping her cheek, just in case.

"Oh, I'll give you help," Cassie promised. She leaned against him and kissed him harder, trying to ignore the increasing volume of the door and the calls of Jonas' name from the other side. She wanted to just crawl into his lap and...and...

And the knocking was getting to her. "You could tell them to go away," she murmured against his lips, knowing that he couldn't.

Jonas held her against him, dragging the kiss out for as long as he dared. Because she was right, he had to answer the door.

When he finally pulled away it was with a heavy sigh. Reluctantly stepping back, he took a moment to compose himself and his appearance before moving to unlock and open the door...

Cassie hated doctors. She hadn't hated her mother, of course, but she'd been the exception to the rule. She hated being examined and poked and prodded. The irony, of course, was that she wanted to be a doctor. She knew that doctors helped people and she wanted to be that, but when it came to her, she didn't want them to touch her.

By the time they were done with her, they had almost shred her last nerve. All she'd wanted to do was find out if she could help Jonas. And at the end, all she'd wanted to do was to keep kissing him. Now, with the doctors and all of SG-1 crowding him, she wasn't even sure she was going to get another chance to look at him.

With the attention off of her, she was able to wander pretty much freely. She ended up in Jonas' office and she curled up on the couch. Maybe, somewhere, she was hoping that they could pick up where they left off. Mostly she just didn't want to go home yet. Eventually, the music of the Weather Channel lulled her into a short nap.

Jonas didn't hate doctors but he certainly wasn't fond of them at the moment. He'd been poked and prodded and drilled in detail about how Cassie had woken him up. Minus the stuff that happened after wards of course. Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter were already giving him firm looks from the one kiss, after they'd expressed how relieved they were he was alright and awake.

When Jonas was allowed to leave the infirmary he had no choice but to be dragged down to the mess for lunch by his overly concerned friends. It was nice to know SG-1 had been worried about him and it was even nicer when everyone in the mess gave him a very warm reception when they saw he was awake again. After feeling like an outcast here for so long, it was nice to know he'd finally been accepted.

Finally, Jonas had been left alone and he made his way to his lab. There were some translations he wanted to work on to help clear the thoughts in his over active brain, mostly about the beautiful princess who had woken him from his fairy tale sleep.

...who was asleep on his couch. Jonas blinked in surprise from the door way, before entering and closing the door. Then he moved to kneel in front of her, watching her sleep for a moment before reaching out to shake her gently. "Cassie. Cassie? Wake up..."

Cassie was having a nice dream where her handsome prince was sweeping her off of her feet and into his arms and then there were his lips on hers and he was kissing her and holding her and touching her and she didn't want him to let her go. Except he did. She reached out when she woke up and was surprised to feel a face underneath her hand.

She opened her eyes slowly and smiled when she saw who it was.

"Jonas."

The hand on his face was unexpected but he smiled and leaned into it as he watched her wake up. "Hi. This is a pleasant surprise."

"I wanted to make sure you were okay." It was a lie or, at least, most of a lie. She wanted to be sure he was all right, yes, but she also wanted to see him again. A very small part of the back of her mind wanted to pick up where they'd left off.

"I'm fine. Clear bill of health as per Dr. Lam. And then the rest of SG-1 made sure I ate, so I take that back. I'm fine and stuffed." Jonas was very glad he was here. Especially since he'd been dragged to the mess, he'd been afraid that she'd have left base again before he got to see her. So he wasn't kidding when finding her here in his lab was a very pleasant surprise.

Cassie grinned and poked his stomach gently. "I don't know. You don't look stuffed." All right, so maybe she was using the other definition of 'stuffed'.

Jonas just laughed, and not just because he was a bit ticklish. "With all the Jello forced on me, I'm amazed I don't jiggle."

Cassie smoothed her hand along his stomach. "Well, no jiggling for you." She smiled up at him and licked her lips.

When Cassie licked her lips, Jonas couldn't help staring for a moment. He bit his own lip before looking at Cassie with a hopeful smile. "So...what are you doing here?"

"I was hoping..." Cassie began and realized suddenly that she sounded stupid. Maybe he had kissed her, but that was then and this was now and there was no way that he was going to want to pick up where they had left off. Right?

"I was hoping that you'd show up. I wanted to make sure you were okay."
